PSJA ISD Educator Named 2025 RGV TABE Teacher of the Year

PHARR - Carolina De Anda-Treviño, 4th grade teacher at Carmen Anaya Elementary in Pharr-San Juan- Alamo ISD (PSJA ISD), was recently named the 2025 Rio Grande Valley Texas Association for Bilingual Education (RGV TABE) Teacher of the Year. She was honored at the 28th Annual RGV TABE Conference, held on January 17-18, 2025, at South Padre Island, Texas.

“This award belongs to the teachers that show up every day, to the administrators who advocate for us, to the families and community we serve,” said De Anda-Trevino. “But above all, it belongs to my students. They are the reason I’m here. My students push me to do more and be more.”

According to the educator, she takes pride in providing language instruction to her 4th grade students, helping them develop a strong foundation in English while maintaining their connection to their native language. Her approach fosters academic success while celebrating bilingualism.

The RGV-TABE organization is dedicated to advancing educational excellence for students in Bilingual programs across the Rio Grande Valley. Through professional development, public education, and advocacy for effective bilingual-bicultural programs, RGV TABE ensures that students have access to high-quality learning opportunities.

“To my past, present, and future students, and to the parents in our community—just remember, ser bilingüe es un superpoder,” shared the educator.

Congratulations to Ms. De-Anda-Trevino for her exceptional dedication to education, inspiring students through innovative lessons while nurturing a deeper connection to their heritage and culture.
